National Council for the Social Studies
Mr. Cherry has been active in the Texas and National Council for the Social Studies (TCSS NCSS). Holding various committee positions and being elected officer of both. Terry is currently president-elect and starting in July will be president of NCSS.
This past year Cherry has chaired the NCSS Executive Director Search Committee and currently Co-Chair of NCSS Strategic Planning Committee. During this time he has also expanded the outreach of NCSS to various groups and organizations. Seeking endorsements and partnerships by connecting social science associations to improve communication and relationships for stronger social science involvement in education.
Living in the Dallas area for the past 32 years Terry has been involved with the 6th Floor Museum and the 11th District Federal Reserve Bank as educator advisor. He is also active with the History Conference annually held at University of North Texas, Oak Hill Technology Curriculum Education Committee, Texas Education Association review state curriculum and led several In-Service for Garland ISD.
